Clearing the Line
Here are a few examples of what the roadbed looked like before
surveying and clearing.
-
During the summer, you couldn't go back here.
-
The thorns and brush was just too thick. And in the evening,
the mosquitos were intense.
-
But after a little clearing, we have a passable rail-trail. (Trees are
numbered to help identify location during survey.)
-
There was also lots of dead wood, fallen trees, trash, and you name it.
-
Once again, after clearing, the trail is quite passable.
-
Some places were so thick we had to "walk around" certain parts of
the line because we couldn't walk through it. George is standing behind
"Tree 17".
-
Now the entire line is walkable, and drivable with the Go-Cart.
