Spring Thaw on the East Fork
Let's follow the Eask Fork brook around the railroad.
-
The East Fork joins the railroad at the east end of the loop.
-
This is seasonal wetlands, and wet is in season now.
-
Is this snow, water, or ice? If you said yes, you are correct.
-
You can see why frost heaves are a problem on this part
of the line. - The water comes right up to the track.
-
Looking back.
-
Continuing -- the brook makes a bend at the northeast corner.
-
It then flows under this culvert.
-
It runs alongside the northern main line.
-
Same location looking west.
-
The brook flows under the foot bridge and turns north.
-
Here it is running north.
-
It then turns west toward the new tall trestle.
-
Approaching the tall trestle...
-
and flowing beneath it.
-
The brook from the bridge deck.
-
Downstream from the bridge.
-
Another view of the trestle and brook.
