Bay Window Caboose
Willamette & Pacific #3
This is MY caboose at the construction shop in Michigan.
-
I built a special box to ship the caboose here to New Hampshire.
-
It has arrived. Here it is at the gravel pit with a new flatcar.
But, How should I paint it?
-
The legacy of the Southern Pacific railroad left behind many
still operable bay window cabooses. So I sifted through photos
on the internet and found these. WPRR #3 and #2.
-
Sister caboose #2 has this map on the other side.
I can only assume #3 is the same.
-
So I had a set of vinyl decals made. The paint was made by mixing
a can of Rustoleum red tinting base with a can of Rustoleum brown.
-
I have to admit, I really like the color.
The inside and underneath are Rustoleum gloss black.
-
...and here it is at home on the rails.
